Between Acting and Writing

Here’s something awesome: I filmed a short last week where I got to wear an insane superhero costume and the first screenplay I finished – a comedy pilot – was selected for a Dutch screenwriting event named “Het Schrijfpaleis.” This means professional actors will perform scenes from my screenplay after which a panel of film professionals and an audience gives feedback. Hollywood Agent & O1B Visa News

Well, after three plus weeks of waiting, wanting and wishing the word is out, I got an e-mail from the big Top 10 agent. The lack of exclamation marks in the title of this post should tell you enough. There was not enough interest from the other agents to pursue representation. However, the fact that there is a post at all should also tell you something. That despairing and depressed does not equal productively writing & positive for example…

Okay, so I couldn’t sign with the best of the best of Hollywood agencies right away. It would have been fantastic, but the matter of fact is that I have 0 U.S. credits nor a romance with George Clooney, so I’ve just decided to see it as a good omen that someone at this agency was interested at all. Plus, regardless of all that, today I have officially started my O1B visa process! Continue reading

Six Actors That Wrote Their Way to Success

One of the hardest things about being an actress for me is going through periods of nothing. No auditions, no projects, no progress… I just get so antsy, and start losing hope anything will ever happen. But recently I’ve found an excellent way of turning these nothing-periods into productive and creatively fulfilling times: I’ve been writing screenplays!

Although I’ve been doing it  for years I never finished anything. But just as I had about 16 pages done for a feature length sci-fi-ish love story, a whole new idea hit me (in the shower, thought I should mention that) and a few weeks later I finally finished my first ever screenplay! A comedy pilot!

Of course it’s a long shot to think it will actually get produced with me starring, but it’s not impossible. Let these six actors that literally wrote their way to a great acting career show you… Continue reading
